Mission Statement: To enhance and encourage the public use and awareness of Sessions Woods.
Located in Burlington, CT, Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area is a
700-acre tract of natural land set aside for wildlife that also serves
to introduce visitors to wildlife and natural resources management
through various educational programs, demonstration sites, and
self-guided hiking trails and displays.
The Friends of Sessions Woods was established to facilitate
projects and programs that are designed to enhance the value of
Sessions Woods as a resource for education, research and the enjoyment
of nature. The organization has sponsored such activities as birdhouse
building workshops, fall foliage wagon rides, and annual meetings with
guest speakers. Money raised from the organization's activities is used
to fund special projects that enhance the public's experience on the
property. In addition, the organization applies for grants. Funds
received to date have been used to purchase education equipment, and to
print a forty-page guidebook [written by a high school student who sits
on the Board] about the property.
