The Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center’s Public Program Series is a cooperative venture between the CT DEP Wildlife Division and the Friends of Sessions Woods. Please pre-register for these programs
by calling 860-675-8130 (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
Programs are free unless noted. An adult must accompany children under
12 years old. No pets allowed at these programs!
August 24, 2010 (Tuesday), 6:00 p.m. Late Summer Evening Hike at
Sessions Woods Visit
the beaver marsh at Sessions Woods during a late summer’s evening. Learn about
beavers and wildlife habitat on this 2-mile roundtrip, educational walk led by
Natural Resource Educator Laura Rogers-Castro of the CT DEP’s Wildlife
Division.
September 25, 2010 (Saturday), from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Connecticut Hunting and Fishing Appreciation Day “SAVE THE DATE” for this very special open house, sponsored by the Friends of Sessions
Woods, at the Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area and Conservation
Education Center. There will be presentations on wildlife and fishing by state
biologists; children’s activities; hunting and fishing tips; fishing
demonstrations; pellet shooting; archery; and more! And, it’s all FREE! Parking and shuttle

October 3, 2010 (Sunday) (Raindate: October 10), at 8:00 a.m. Bird
Walk Burlington resident and
bird enthusiast Laura Spitz will lead this bird walk suitable for all levels of
bird watching ability! Laura will guide participants to several habitats at
Sessions Woods for the opportunity to see a diversity of birds. She also will
provide bird identification tips and suggestions for bird watching field
guides. The 2-mile bird walk will begin at the flag pole in front of the
Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center. Participants should bring
binoculars and wear appropriate shoes for hiking.
November 13, 2010 (Saturday) at 1:00 p.m. Sessions Woods Fall Hike Join Natural Resource Educator Laura Rogers-Castro of the CT
DEP’s Wildlife Division for a 2-mile hike at the Sessions Woods Wildlife
Management Area. Laura will provide participants with an introduction to tree
identification and forest ecology. Participants will discover unique facts
about Connecticut’s native trees and their wildlife value. This program will
begin in the exhibit room of the Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center.
Please wear appropriate shoes and bring water.
December 11, 2010 (Saturday), at 1:30 p.m. Children’s Program:
Wildlife Tracks & Signs Learn about wildlife tracks indoors
with Natural Resource Educator Laura Rogers-Castro and then head outside for a
short walk to look for animal signs. Children also will make a wildlife track
to take home. An adult must accompany all children. Meet in the small classroom
in the exhibit area at Sessions Woods.
